Services and Offerings - Karen in Education

Karen currently travels globally offering University, Symposium, and Conference performances and lectures in the following areas. Program them individually or in a variety of packages.

Musician Health Lectures

Have less pain and more music in your life. The field of performing arts medicine has found that nearly 80% of musicians will have pain or injury at some point in time in their music careers. Nearly 3/4 of musicians will encounter obstacles to their mental health that will directly inhibit their performance ability. Find out the facts and develop vocabulary to improve your music practice, conversations with medical practitioners, and pedagogy through this workshop.

"As both a professional musician as well as a college music professor I am very aware of how little attention is paid to helping musicians understand health and wellness when it comes to performing. I also understand how critically important that understanding can be for career longevity and well-being.
Karen is smartly filling this gap with much needed information. She provides valuable takeaways for all musicians; from those just beginning their careers to working professionals who have been performing their entire lives."

- Dave Beatty, Head of Commercial Music , Azusa Pacific University

Equip. Empower. Excite.

Karen's educational philosophy is built on three foundational tenets. 1. Equipping students with theory-based fundamentals. 2.Empowering students to take ownership of their progress. 3. Exciting students to implement these habits regularly.

A music practice is a wonderful way to enter the feedback loop. Through habitual practice we can set measurable goals, expand our listening, foster joy, express our emotions and grow in confidence. These social-emotional skills are grown in our music classes and applicable to all subjects, disciplines, and life goals.

Karen has been teaching and coaching for over twenty years and has devoted her pedagogy to learning how best we learn, not just repeating repertoire. She focuses on music and physical fundamentals to ensure a long and enjoyable music practice at any age.
